1Cut onion and sautΓ© in oil with a pinch of salt in a skillet . Add splashes of water to deglaze occasionally until fully caramelized, about 15 minutes .

2Slice tomato and season with salt and black pepper . Set aside with lettuce and pickles .

3Divide ground beef into two 100g portions. Shape into patties and flatten thin.

4Butter sesame seed buns with butter and toast on the griddle until golden.

5Place patties on the hot griddle, season topside with salt and black pepper . Wait for juices to pool on top before flipping. Get a good char, then top each with american cheese .

6Layer on the bottom bun: ketchup , mustard , caramelized onions, patties, tomato, lettuce, pickles. Spread mayonnaise on the top bun and close.
